Community Partners

The Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center collaborates with many departments within the Science Museum of Minnesota as well as community partners in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.

Internal Collaborations

Exhibits staff collaborate on with youth on exhibits such as the Resource Center located in the Experiment Gallery of the Science Museum of Minnesota, part of the Water exhibit hosted in the spring, and the Fluid Power exhibit.

Learning Technologies Center staff collaborate on projects such as Learning Places, IDEA Cooperative, teaching classes, and engaging youth with cutting edge technology.

Youth and Family
staff collaborate on class ideas, material use, and strategic planning.

Many other Science Museum of Minnesota staff including Development, Public Programs, Volunteers, and Warner Nature Center, provide invaluable support to the KAYSC program.

External Collaborations

21st Century Community Learning Center grant from the U.S. Department of Education provides funding for after-school KAYSC programs at Battle Creek Middle School and Hazel Park Middle School.

EMID (East Metro Integration District) elementary school students participate in Saturday programming at the Science Museum of Minnesota led by KAYSC staff

Kitty Andersen Family Foundations came together in 1996 to establish an endowment for the Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center.

National Science Foundation provides funding for nearly all of the KAYSC teams.
